Nokia has announced the NFC compatible Nokia 6216 classic mobile phone on the third WIMA conference held in Monaco. Nokia 6216 is the first Nokia mobile device of this kind.
Nokia 6216 classic will enable mobile network operators to provide their subscribers with NFC services that make file sharing much easier and not only that.
Particularly, NFC technology makes mobile payments secure as a special application and NFC compatible SIM card that is bought separately act like a passport. For instance, you can store your credit card information on this SIM card and pay for products and services just by waving your phone in front of a contactless terminal.
The mobile phone Nokia 6216 classic has a camera, stereo FM radio, and music player. The phone supports 3G and microSD memory cards up to 8 GB.
Nokia 6216 classic is slated to start shipping in the third quarter of 2009 with an estimated retail price of EUR 150 before taxes and subsidies.
