  Today Motorola announced two new mobile devices: MOTO™ W233 Renew and MOTOSURF™ A3100. MOTO™ W233 Renew is the world’s first mobile phone made from 100% recyclable plastics comprised of recycled water bottles. The package size is reduced by 22 percent and the box and all of the materials inside are printed on 100% post-consumer recycled paper. Renew will first be available at T-Mobile USA in Q1 2009. As for MOTOSURF™ A3100 it is a high-speed touch tablet with a customizable home screen. The phones will debut this week at the CES in Las Vegas.  

Nokia has decided that touchscreens need a makeover, and a wet one at that. Using water as a membrane in this concept handset, the phone's screen uses the liquid to raise and lower buttons in the relevant places. The main issue with touchscreens is the problem of accuracy when pressing the virtual keys. Haptic feedback, which produces vibration when the right area is hit, helps somewhat, but still doesn't allow for blind typing. Other capacitive options use slightly raised screens in places to help users, but these lose the lovely flush nature of devices like the Nokia 5800 and the Apple iPhone. The new concept can inflate and deflate as needed, which makes this gadget so futuristic it should be covered in foil and live on Mars. source

  Samsung Electro-Mechanics has developed a power energy microelement on liquids and a hydrogen generator which work on water. The vice president of the research centre has declared that the device is good for mobile phones. When the phone works, metal and water are reacting and the hydrogen is produced and further sent to the battery. It reacts with the oxygen from the air and produces electrical energy.The liquid batteries can provide up to 3W power – this is enough to have a mobile phone working. One charge can last for 10 hours talk time or 5 days in medium use. When the battery is drained, the user has to replace the hydrogen cartridge. After a while, there will be batteries that needs only water to be added, no cartridges.The developers declared that the phones powered by such systems should be available on the market during the 2010 year. 

  The South Korean company Samsung announced the successful invention of a battery working on a hydrogen generator.As a fuel it is used high quality water. The new battery it’s capable to supply with energy a mobile phone for 10 hours (from a single recharge).The working principle of this battery, accordingly to the Samsung’s officials, is the following – “when the phone is on, water and metal are reacting and hydrogen is obtained, further more, the hydrogen is reacting with the oxygen” 

  Some scientific researches are heading to mark the next generation of mobile phones. Therefore a series of tests have been applied to regular handsets in interaction with a special chemical mixture. This substance is used in the military industry, to treat soldier’s uniform in case of a chemical attack. The mobile phones surfaces have been covered with this material and exposed to unfavorable weather conditions. Results have proved that the mobile phones is well protected against moisture thanks to the chemical add (Ion-Mask), which is repealing the water and therefore ensures a better protection for the mobile device. Currently a shoe manufacturer is going to test this technology on one of its collection of footwear.  As for the wireless technology, at the present moment some companies are already using this technology but only for some part of the components used in the industry. A larger implementation is planned to be performed by a specialized company which is in the process of negotiating with the world’s top three mobile manufacturers.
