LG Electronics (LG) continued to log impressive growth in Q4 2007 shipping 23.7 million units, a 39% year-on year growth. New product launches in Western Europe and North America contributed to the rise in shipments. Although improvements were visible in ASP, revenue growth and operating margins, sharp variations in W-CDMA and GSM shipments raise concern over the sustainability of this growth.

The world’s leading mobile phones manufacturer published its 4Q report for 2007. The results that the Company obtained in the recent year are contributing to the already high status of this brand. The net profit for the quarter rose up to 44% comparable to the same period of 2006. This contributed to an increase in the annual profits to 67% up or €7,205 million. Nokia managed to sell 133.5 million phones in the quarter and, as the Strategy Analytics predicted - increased its market share to 40%. From the total numbers the N series were shipped in a quantity of 38 million units and the E series handsets reached a 7 million volume. Sony Ericsson launched a couple of handsets dedicated to radio listeners:  the R300 Radio and R306 Radio and other two low-end phones: Sony Ericsson T270 and T280.What characterizes Sony Ericsson R300 Radio and R306 is the improved performance of the loud-speaker, and the ability to boost the volume in the 3D mode. Both phones are designed to deliver the most in matters of music experiences and the support for the AM/FM frequencies and Bluetooth headsets. Today Nokia unveiled two new low-end phones: Nokia 2600 classic and Nokia 1209. Both handsets are extremely cheap: at only €65 and €35 respectively. Nokia 2600 is equipped with some additional, entertainment features that include the MP3 support, the FM Radio and a VGA camera. As part of a good tradition that Nokia keeps along this category of mobile phones, Nokia 2600 will also feature multi colorful Xpress-on covers.   A new touch screen handset seems to be launched by HTC soon. Some rumors about the HTC Pharos model are saying that it is going to look similar to HTC Touch Cruise. The model will have a slower chipset though, with a 200 MHz TI OMAP 850, and it seems to be only 2.5 G enabled. The phone will still feature some good characteristics: a 2MP camera, 128Mb RAM, 256Mb ROM, Bluetooth 2.0 and a GPS receiver. The device operates on Windows Mobile 6 Pro.

The investor relationship at Samsung headquarters is supposed to get stronger in 2008. The 2007 4th quarter results were published today by the Company. The report is showing a constant demand in mobile handsets which reached a 41 percent growth comparable to the previous period, sales numbers revealed a volume of 46,3 million units.  A big portion of the success is related to the European and the USA market, where shipment rose from 56% in the 3rd quarter to 62% in the 4th quarter – up with 6%. High-end phones sales are structured as following: The Ultra Collection hits 4.5 mill units, while 5MP cell-phones have a 1.1 mill share of the volume. Sales of mobile devices with a 3G enabled support are summing 7.3 mill from 5.5mill in the 3rd quarter.  The company looks in the future of the 2008 year with optimism. It estimates that the mobile phone market has a potential of 1.23 billion cell-phones in 2008. In order to strengthen its market position, the manufacturer plans to double the number of 3G phones and will concentrate on 3MP+ camera phones and touch screen devices which have the most promising forecast.

A new touch screen device is official. E-Ten reinforced its resources with the addition of Glofiish X650. It is based on the 6th version of Windows Mobile. One of the top features is the 2.8” colored display with a VGA resolution and 65k colors. The quad GSM is also highly ranked for the FM transmitter which means that Glofiish X650 can playback your favorite tracks using the speakers of a regular FM radio. But this is not all. The handset is GPS enabled, and will provide you with all the comfort of the navigation utilities. It is a shame that it doesn’t come with a 3G support though, but the situation is compensated with the WiFi option. A MicroSD slot and 256MB of internal memory are packed together in the compact body.  On its rear part it holds a 2MP camera with autofocus. The phone is going to be available in two colors: black and purple, and is going to hit the sales department in two-three weeks, the company promises....

Along with the recent presentation of Samsung F490, some rumors around are talking about a CDMA version of this phone and its close launch date. The lucky Telecom which will distribute to its subscribers the exclusive handset is supposed to be Sprint Nextel. Its technical characteristics are believed to remain the same as on the base version of the model, including the Croix Interface. But besides the change in the supported frequency, the camera is noticed to be different and sum only 2MP. This modification was applied in order to make the phone thinner, and now measures only 11.8mm thick. Connectivity options will include Bluetooth, and the support for the Ev-Do feature, which means high Internet speed, that is granted to be a special experience thanks to the full screen mode available in the integrated web browser. No official information upon the launch of Samsung M800 is available for the moment, but it should follow the faith of its base version which was announced to be available in the first quarter of the current year.

  DoCoMo, a large telecommunication provider, launched a GPS headed device that will be used for maintaining a higher level of security for the Japanese society. The technical supplier for this device will be secured by Sony Ericsson with the U310 platform.  Its main function is activated when a switcher is triggered by the owner. In the next moment an audible alert will being activated also and a special data signal will be sent to local authorities with the precise location being provided within.
