The Japanese mobile operator WILLCOM, which provides services in the PHS (Personal Handy-phone System) standard, today has announced a new communicator model, WILLCOM 03, which operating system is based on Windows Mobile 6.1 Classic. This model is manufactured by Sharp and also has another internal name: WS020SH.   On the Canadian operator Rogers Wireless’ site was seen the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 smartphone. We have to remind that this device is designed to work in the GSM / GPRS / EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) networks. It has a processor with a 312 MHz frequency, 2.2 - inch TFT LCD-display with a resolution of 260 x 240 pixels, 2 - megapixel camera, Bluetooth-module, Wi-Fi and slot for microSD memory cards.   No official information from Rogers Wireless about the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 sales was not yet been received. But most likely, this smartphone will be presented to the operator’s subscribers as soon as possible.

  The Verzio company is going to start selling its first branded 3.5G PDA with mobile phone capabilities in Asia. The smartphone will be distributed under the name Verzio Envii. The device runs under the operating system Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 and has a Marvell PXA270 624 MHz processor. Nowadays, Verzio Envii is already sold on the territory of the Philippines, from March this year. 

  The Nokia Company is expected to release till the end of the year 40 new mobile phone models build with easy to recycle components, thereby reducing damage to the environment and facilitating the recycling process. It’s also interesting the plan to provide the mobile phones with a prepaid postal package, allowing to return the phone for recycling when it becomes useless. The new construction concept of mobile phones, will allow Nokia, by the 2010 year, to reduce the cost of processing and purchase of new materials by 50%. 

  The Nokia Company confidently took the first place among the largest producers of cellular phones in the Indian market, and it’s hard to believe that it can be dropped off the podium.   Second place, with 8.1% of the market, took the Sony Ericsson company. Excellent development dynamic has demonstrated the Samsung Company. It has been able to increase its market share from 5.7% to 7%. Now the company ranks third in the ranking, pressing Motorola, whose share dropped from 6.7% to 5.9%.   Samsung is going to continue to strengthen their positions and plans to double its Indian market share by the end of the year.  

  Samsung is preparing a new Symbian-Smartphone, which resembles Samsung U900 Soul in what concerning the appearance. Samsung L870 will receive a similar touchpad, metal case and Symbian OS 9.3, together with the S60v3 Feature Pack 2. The source said that the device will be presented in mid-June. If the Korean company will hurry up with the phone’s market launch, then the L870 can become the first device with the Feature Pack 2 on the market.   Reuters reports that Nokia promises to expand its portfolio of Linux-devices. "We’ll extend our portfolio, because we are confident that the importance of Linux will grow", - has said Kari Tuuti, the representative of the Finnish company. With his words also agrees the Nokia’s Financial Chief, Rick Saymonson, who also stresses the importance of the Linux OS. He explained that at this time are developed a quite impressive number of Linux devices of the new generation.   Compared with 1st quarter of 2007, the mobile phones sales in the first three months of this year fell by 22%, which is an indication of the consumer reaction to the U.S. economy slowdown. It is true, the consumers have begun to buy more expensive phones: the smartphones sales, according to the NPD, increased by 10%. The Motorola Company continues to lead the American market, but its share dropped from 35% to 27%. Other results based on the quarter results: Samsung - 18%, LG - 17%. The Nokia Company took 8% of the U.S. market, while Research in Motion, manufacturer of BlackBerry, - 5%. The Canadian RIM company has been able to displace Sanyo from the fifth place. Apple is not found in the top 5 manufacturers.  

  The Chinese resource PCOnline has published "live" photos and information about the  Samsung i900 Communicator. We have already referred to this model in the news, it had not yet been officially announced. Samsung i900 - this is a keyboard less monoblock with a large 3.5” touch screen, running on Windows Mobile 6.1. When will be made the official announcement is not known yet. According to the developers’ thoughts, the device combines the old mobile phones design of the past years (with external antenna) and modern technology (touch screen and no hardware keys).
